ITA: Video-ritratto dello scrittore ticinese Giovanni Orelli, che passa da una finestra all’altra della sua casa in Val Bedretto (Ticino), senza mai smettere di raccontare.
Sono i tetti, un fiume, i prati, gli alberi, i boschi e le montagne che vede da queste finestre a dare il via a un flusso inarrestabile di ricordi e di riflessioni, riprese in un unico piano sequenza.
“Dare immagine alle parole di uno scrittore è, per un cineasta, una sfida. Le sue parole scritte devono farci viaggiare e farci sognare. Giovanni Orelli ha occhi che brillano quando ci racconta storie o quando riscopre parole antiche. Sono sensazioni che ho cercato di ridare allo spettatore”

Giovanni Orelli est dans sa maison natale, dans le val Bedretto (Tessin). Il va d’une fenêtre à l’autre tout en parlant. Les toits, un cours d’eau, les prés, les arbres, la forêt, les montagnes qu’il voit de ces deux fenêtres provoquent en lui un flux continu de souvenirs et de réflexions. Le tout est filmé en quelques longs plans-séquences. Mettre en images les mots d’un écrivain qui nous font voyager et rêver est un défi pour un cinéaste. Les yeux de Giovanni Orelli brillent quand il raconte des histoires, quand il parle des mots du passé. Ce sont ces sensations que j’ai essayées de transmettre aux spectateurs.

DEU: Giovanni Orelli in seinem Domizil im Val Bedretto (Tessin): Orelli bewegt sich zwischen seinem Schreibtisch und seinen beiden Fenstern - das eine öffnet den Blick auf die kleine Ortschaft, das andere führt hinaus in die Weiten der Bergwelt, hinter der Italien liegt. Auf diesem kleinen Raum eines Zimmers in den Bergen veranstaltet der Schriftsteller Giovanni Orelli eine wahre "Tour de Force", eine Ein-Mann-Performance. Ohne Unterbrechung, ohne filmische Schnitte oder Bebilderungen führt Giovanni Orelli vor, wie er sich auf den schriftstellerischen Prozess vorbereitet: Durch unermüdliches Hin- und Herwandern lässt er die Gedanken und Erinnerungen strömen, denkt an die Küche der Mutter, den Emigranten in der Osteria, die Frösche, die er als Kind gefangen und getötet hat, das Bild der geschlachteten Kühe, das ihm früh eine Idee von der Brutalität des Krieges eingab.

ENG: A video-portrait of the Ticino-born writer, Giovanni Orelli, who passes from one window to another of his house in Val Bedretto, without interrupting his narrative. It is the roofs, a river, the meadows, the trees, woods and mountains that he sees from these windows that stimulate an unstoppable flow of memories and reflections, films in a single sequence lasting 15 minutes.
“Providing an image to the words of a writer is a challenge for a film-maker. The writer’s written words have to be able to make us travel and dream. Giovanni Orelli has eyes that shine when he tells us stories or when he rediscovers ancient words. These are the sensations I have tried to pass on to the spectator.”
